| The 1949 GE model 800C television about to be restored. Preparing
for initial evaluation. |
 |
 |
This set was powered up slowly using a Variac and has
passed initial voltage and resistance checks, but waveform analysis
indicated likely sync, sweep and video troubles. These symptoms
are evident on the screen. |
| Guided by Photofact folder 78-7 and an extensive array of
test equipment, I determined that there were some weak tubes and one
capacitor in need of replacement. |
 |
 |
After replacing those out-of-tolerance components, here is
the result. This 1949 television is working nicely. |
| Note the impressive condition of the delicate Bakelite
cabinet. This is the first time I've seen an 800C with no cracks
or breakage. Often, I see sets where the entire top grille is
missing. |
