ATTENTION: ELECTRONICS STUDENTS

We are seeking Apprentice candidates from the area of Warren / Cortland / Niles (Trumbull County, Ohio) with strong background and interest in Vacuum Tube Electronics.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Qualified Candidate will have completed a minimum of two semesters’ Electronics Technology curriculum and pursued a hobby in Electronics for a minimum of two years.  Licensed Amateur Radio operator, individual preparing for FCC license Exam and/or Antique Radio & TV Collector with Restoration experience preferred.

Applicant MUST have: car or equivalent transportation; home and/or mobile phone service; from-home PC and Internet / Email.  Prepaid-only phone and/or Library-access Internet do NOT meet Reliable Transportation and Communications criteria.

Ham Radio Operators’ License of Novice class or higher is preferred, but is not required.  Musician (especially Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, or Keyboards) or Sound Reinforcement systems setup/maintenance experience also helpful.

POSITION TYPE: Independent Contractor (IRS Form 1099-M)

HOURS: To be determined.  Flexible to fit student’s course schedule.  May include some Evening/Weekend hours.

DUTIES: Assist our Technician(s) with Restoration of vacuum tube electronics items for clients or for vendor stock.  Items to be Restored may include Antique Radio & TV, Musical Instrument Amplifiers, High-Fidelity Audio Equipment and similar items.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Apprentice will be responsible for providing and maintaining his/her own Basic Hand Tools (screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, soldering tools, DMM, oscilloscope, etc.).  Specialized tools and equipment will be made available for Apprentice use during working hours.  Some additional special-purpose tools will be available for Loan. 

COMPENSATION: Compensation shall consist of a Commission of $8.00 per Billable Hour of work successfully performed or 20% of Profit from sale of vendor stock items which the Apprentice has successfully Restored in addition to valuable hands-on experience and Apprentice title suitable for citation as Work Experience on future employment applications.
